Second Graders learn about Community Helpers

Ms. Eckert's second grade students are researching community helpers of their choice including teachers, firefighters, and nurses. They are taking notes on their community workers while learning from the Pebble Go database.

After listening to the story of the Three Little Pigs, Kindergarten students are building a house 

for the three pigs with Legos and Magformers.

Gr. 4 Recess Makers Club in Action!

Recess Maker Club students are programming the Bee-bot to travel to certain destinations such as school, library, store, pool, airport on the mat.

Bee-bot is a wonderful tool to teach students the fundamentals of computational thinking. This robot can remember up to 40 commands including forward, backwards, left and right turns to maneuver around the floor. Students would understand and learn the concepts of sequence, coordinates, distance, and location.

Students learn basic programing concepts with color codes for Ozobot. 

Programing Ozobot is simple - you can do this by simply drawing lines and using colors, but you should start and end the line with black for Ozobot to read the codes.

Ozobot's sensors are designed to read floor signs about 150 times per second to detect red, green, blue, black and white areas and react accordingly.

Gr. 5 Korean Club students are learning to read syllables

After learning basic Korean consonants and vowels, students were able to put the consonant and the vowel together and were able to read syllables. 
The concept of syllables is the key to the Korean alphabet.

Coding for Kids @ FR Parent University

Students and their parents came to 'Coding for Kids' to explore the wonderful world of coding.  Dash Robot introduced Mrs. Joo, who used coding to teach him how to speak to the audience. Participants logged into Code.org and learned the basics of coding.  Then, students programmed Beebot to find its way to the destination and Ozobot to follow the line with color codes.

Programmable Robot Mouse. Then, they programmed the mouse to reach the cheese.
