4th Grade Research Project on Environmental Literacy

After choosing a research topic, 4th grade students are using Worldbook Encyclopedia to find basic background information about the subject (climate change, ocean pollution, destruction of rainforest, or endangered species).

Finding background information will help students deepen their knowledge about the topics and generate research questions about their topics.

DIGITAL PASSPORT™ addresses Key Issues facing Kids in Today's Digital World

Students learned critical skills related to digital safety, respect, and community. Mr. Onorato's students played Twalkers game and learned why it's important to avoid multitasking with a cell phone. They considered the benefits of focusing on one task at a time.

Libraries Ready to Code

According to ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act),  school librarians and effective school library programs positively impact “student achievement, digital literacy skills, and school climate and culture.” 

In addition, school librarians support “rigorous personalized learning experiences supported by technology” and ensure equitable access to resources for all students. Also, school librarians are responsible for sharing professional learning for colleagues and disseminating “the benefits of new techniques, strategies, and technologies” throughout the district.
